Dec. 3, 1999
This game makes or breaks our season. If we win, it will be a success no matter what we do in the bowl. And if we lose, I am afraid of residual negative effect.
We must pressure Applewhite the entire game and force errors on his part. In the second quarter of the first game, every pass he threw was batted down. I sense a lot of determination from our D . We must get their tackles blocked and use more shotgun so we can still operate even if they get penetration. We threw very well on them the first time, so Wistrom's injury is another worry. Put the ball in Crouch's and Bobby's hands -- they are your playmakers. Keep attacking on O and don't go into a shell if we get ahead.
Early in the week I thought that we would lose. I was searching for the key to the game. I believe the key is strange, as it sounds that they are overconfident. That they have our number and can just show up and beat us. Another factor was that Tony Davis was right -- we were too high for the first game. We don't need to play our best game of the year to win, just our normal game. If we are within minus-1 on the turnover margin, we will win.
Get your games faces on and fasten your
seatbelts, because it will
be a wild ride. I can't wait.
