This week in Husker history
The week of April 5-11, looking back in five-year intervals:
1930: Red Young and Harold Frahm score touchdowns as the Reds shut out the Blues, 12-0, in the final intrasquad game of spring, with a week of practices still to come. More: 1, 2
1940: Bob Kahler, Butch Luther and Warren Alfson find paydirt in a scrimmage won by the Yales.
1945: The pickings are slim for coach A.J. Lewandowsk as spring practices begin.
«1950: In the first official spring game, the Varsity struggles to a 13-13 tie against the Alumni. Oddly enough, 47-year-old Ed Weir (left) scored and super-soph-to-be Bobby Reynolds did not.
2005: Junior college transfer Zac Taylor gains the upper hand in the competition for the quarterback job against the 2004 starter, Joe Dailey.
