1901: Nebraska beats the Kirksville Osteopaths, 5-0, in Missouri, and crowd noise is among the Cornhuskers' complaints afterward.
 
1906: The Cornhuskers have an easy time in their season opener, blasting Hastings by 56-0. It was Nebraska’s first game under new rules allowing forward passes, and Nebraska completed six of 10.
 
1911: Two-a-day practices begin under new coach Jumbo Stiehm.

1926: Jumping the fence to see a game is a practice nearly as old as Nebraska football itself.

1951: TCU rolls up more than 400 yards of total offense and upsets the Huskers, 28-7, in the season opener. In Bobby Reynolds' absence due to a separated shoulder, Tom Carodine rushed for 101 yards and became the first black player since 1913 to see varsity action for Nebraska. | LJS: 1, 2 | OWH | Photo page

1966: Harry Wilson's 36-yard touchdown run with less than four minutes to play lifts Nebraska to a 12-6 win at Iowa State.
 
1971 Nebraska-Texas A&M, Johnny Rodgers
A&M's Lee Hitt cannot make the saving tackle as Johnny Rodgers returns the opening second-half kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown.
1971: Long-range scores by Bill Olds, Johnny Rodgers and Bill Kosch propel the Huskers to a 34-7 win over Texas A&M.
 
1976: Vince Ferragamo fires four touchdown passes as the Huskers overcome a sluggish start to bury TCU, 64-10.
 
1981: Curt Warner gashes Nebraska for 238 rushing yards as Penn State downs the Huskers in Lincoln, 30-24.
 
1986: Nebraska cruises to a 48-14 win over Oregon, helped by three Broderick Thomas fumble recoveries and two touchdown receptions by tight end Todd Millikan.
 
1991: Despite a plus-six turnover margin, the Huskers struggle to an 18-9 victory at Arizona State.
 
1996: One week after their shutout loss at Arizona State, the Huskers hammer Colorado State, 65-9.
 
2001: Eric Crouch's dazzling 95-yard touchdown run highlights the Huskers' 36-3 win at Missouri. Also, former Husker John Parrella plays on in the NFL while keeping the memory of his father close to him.
 
2006: After jumping to a 17-0 lead, Nebraska needs overtime to defeat Kansas, 39-32.
 
2011: Quarterback Russell Wilson and Wisconsin turn Nebraska's Big Ten debut into a 48-17 nightmare.
 
2016: The Huskers rally with three fourth-quarter TDs for a 31-16 win over Illinois. Also, Husker nation loses a legend with the passing of longtime O-line coach Milt Tenopir.
