Reds 35
Whites 13

Spring game: April 28, 1984

Nebraska has found a talented replacement for Heisman Torophy winner Mike Rozier in senior I-back Jeff Smith, who set a Red-White intrasquad game record with 136 yards rushing Saturday to lead the Red team to a 35-13 victory.

But Cornhusker coach Tom Osborne may now be faced with replacing senior All-Big Eight linebacker Mike Knox, who suffered injured knee ligaments in the first quarter and may require surgery.

Smith and his sophomore teammates at I-back, Paul Miles and Doug Dubose, were particularly impressive in front of fans at Memorial Stadium. While Smith needed only 18 carries to break Roger Craig's Red-White game record of 126 yards, Miles added 113 yards for the Red squad and the White team's DuBose gained 99, including 41 on a dazzling first-quarter touchdown.
