Freeman White
Official recap
Bob Churchich took up where he left off as the Big 8's Sophomore Back of the Year last fall by pitching a pair of TD passes to All Big 8 end Freeman White.

But the veteran combo wasn't enough to counter the defensively stacked opposition as the Reds stopped the Whites, 33-27, in the spring practice final game. An All Sports Day crowd of 7,000 saw the free-wheeling action.

H’MAX NOTES: The Whites had No. 1 offense and No. 2 defense, while the Reds had No. 2 offense and No. 1 defense. ... After the game, coach Bob Devaney singled out Dennis Richnafsky for praise, saying the sophomore-to-be split end "caught the ball better than anyone I've seen in this stadium since I've been here." What about Freeman White, with his five catches for 101 yards? Devaney said: "Freeman made one tremendous catch, but he dropped about as many as he caught."
