Huskers take care of business vs. Wildcats
Sixth-ranked Nebraska methodically defeated a battling Kansas State team 35-7 before 76,188 fans in Memorial Stadium.
Nebraska took a 7-0 lead with 1:47 left in the first quarter when quarterback Dave Humm spotted wingback Don Westbrook open in the end zone and hit him with an 18-yard scoring toss.
Freshman I-back Monte Anthony made it 14-0 when he ran over left tackle for five yards with 12:58 left in the first half. Humm iced the game early in the third period when he hit tight end Brad Jenkins with a 37-yard scoring toss.
The Black Shirts again held an opponent scoreless for three quarters. It was the eighth straight time the Husker defense had accomplished that feat.
Nebraska now readied itself for the attack from the No. 1-ranked Oklahoma Sooners.
