The straight scoop from
Colonel Mustard

Nov. 4, 1997

How did Oklahoma get to be so awful in so short a time? They can't tackle. They can't hold onto the ball. They may or may not be able to tie their own shoes. For a series or two they were feisty on defense, but after that they seemed to give up and the rout was on. We were having our way on both sides of the ball, and that's always fun to watch, but I can't figure out why we left our first-team offense in there as long as we did. Maybe Tom wanted to see them put together a long drive or two. I'd sure hate to see us get a first-teamer hurt just because we were beefing up his stats during garbage time.

For some reason, I am extremely worried about this week's game. I know it's not rational, but I can't shake it. Maybe it's just because of what happened the last time we played in the state of Missouri (Dec. 7, 1996 -- 55 years to the day after Pearl Harbor). I was there (in St. Louis, not Pearl Harbor), and I'll be in Columbia for this one, too. Low behavior will be rampant.
