The straight scoop from Colonel Mustard
March 18, 2002
Well, the Colonel made it to Haymarket Park. Your humble reporter is a big
baseball fan and season ticket holder. Anything that you have read about
the park does not do it justice. It is great -- chairbacks and cupholders and
the whole bit. Last year I got to see my team play in the CWS, something I
was afraid would never happen.
We got great pitching. Both Rodrigue and Marsden are crafty. Neither
throws hard, and they get good movement on the ball and throw strikes. We
play good defense and have great speed on the bases. Although we don't have
as much offense as we had last year, that may develop later in the year.
Leise is a hot bat and catches everything in centerfield. Bruce is coming
on and is an emerging star. Marsden's proformance is the kind that could
make us a CWS team. Grose throws better than Morris and is solid backup.
We will address spring football later, but I can tell you that Dukes is the real
deal from a physical standpoint. I don't think Lord will be our
opening-day starter. The spring will tell us who will be. More to follow
soon.
