The straight scoop from Colonel Mustard
Oct. 25, 1999
From the time I was a kid I have always gotten sick
when we lose. This one gave
me gutache until late Sunday. This is three times we've lost
to Texas with a better team,
and it's getting old. We found a way to lose when we
outgained them by 150
yards. The three turnovers were a disaster, particularly
the fumble on the 1 because
it was unforced.
Why did we lose? We stopped pressuring their little
skinny QB. In the first half
he could hardly get a pass off. In the second we let
him stand back and throw.
Our guards didn't block their D-tackles all day. That
was a big problem on the
fourth and 2.
We can't get our plays in. We have no time to
audible and we don't have the
momentum. This is a HUGE problem that doesn't seem to
be getting any better.
Crouch audibled into Buckhalter's TD because he had
time. Frank has got to get
this straightened out.
Also i was disappointed that
they made halftime
adjustments and we seemed to go away from what
worked, particularly on defense.
The plays where Bobby comes around in motion really
open up the field and show
his value.
Our team seemed tense and played like it. Texas seems
to have the same impact
the Oklahoma teams used to have on us. They never get our best
game. We will have a chance
in the championship game to deal with these guys. It
is time to put an end to
it. We will win the league and still play in a BCS game -- just maybe not the top
one.
Don't give up on this team. They are very
talented, and Texas caught them on
their worst day. Again!
