KSU out lasts on mistakes in loss.
 
Lincoln — Husker freshman Jordan Hooper produced 20 points and nine rebounds, but Brittany Chambers answered with a career-high 32 to lead Kansas State to a 69-64 win over Nebraska at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Saturday night.

Nebraska slipped to 12-14 overall and 2-10 in the Big 12, while Kansas State improved to 18-7 overall and 8-4 in the league.

Chambers hit 13-of-18 shots from the field, including 6-of-10 three-pointers, while adding seven rebounds and three assists for K-State. Jalana Childs added 22 points, including a huge three-pointer with just over a minute remaining to give KSU a six-point lead and two free throws with six seconds left to seal the win.

Lindsey Moore added 17 points, six rebounds and seven assists for the Huskers. Katya Leick pitched in nine points on a career-high three three-pointers for NU, while Kaitlyn Burke added nine points of her own.

Nebraska did not trail until KSU took its first lead on Kelsey Hill's second three-pointer of the game that made it 42-41 with 15:40 left. Thanks to the hot shooting of Chambers and Childs, KSU built the lead to five points at 48-43, before Moore answered with a three-point play to make it 48-46 KSU with 12:19 left.

Leick then tied the game at 50 with her career-high third three-pointer with 10:15 left, and the score was tied again at 54, 56 and 58, before Moore gave the Huskers their last lead of the game at 61-60 on a three-pointer with 4:16 left.

Childs and Chambers then hit back-to-back field goals to push the lead to 64-61, before Childs connected on the game's biggest shot - a three-pointer with time winding down on the shot clock with under a minute left. It was Child's third three of the season and it gave the Wildcats their biggest lead of the night at 67-61.

Hooper answered with a three with 40.1 seconds left to cut the margin to 67-64. NU nearly forced a turnover on K-State's next possession, but instead committed a foul with just over 25 seconds left. It was just NU's third foul of the half and left KSU with a dark shot clock. The Huskers were then forced to commit four more fouls, as KSU spread the full court. It took NU until just under seven seconds left to get the Cats into the bonus.

Chambers missed the front end of the one-and-one, but Childs got the rebound, was fouled and connected on both of her free throws to seal the win.

For the game, Nebraska hit 37.3 percent (22-59) of its shots from the field, including 37.5 percent (9-24) from three-point range. The Huskers were also 11-of-14 at the free throw line and outrebounded, KSU 35-34. NU committed just eight turnovers, but forced just seven by the Wildcats in a well-played game.

Kansas State connected on 48.2 percent (27-56) of its shots, including 10-of-18 threes (55.6 percent). At one point, KSU was 9-of-12 from long range. The Wildcats finished 5-of-8 at the free throw line.

Nebraska held a 31-29 halftime lead after working its way to an 18-8 advantage midway through the first half. The Huskers got balanced first-half production, led by 10 points and six rebounds from Hooper. Moore added eight points, five rebounds and three assists, while Leick pitched in six points on a pair of three-pointers. Burke also scored NU's first four points of the game, as the Huskers never trailed in the first half.

Nebraska hit just 33.3 percent (11-33) of its first-half shots, including 3-of-9 three-pointers. NU was also 6-of-7 at the free throw line. The Huskers outrebounded the Wildcats, 21-17, and committed just three first-half turnovers, while forcing five by KSU.

Chambers carried the Cats in the first half, pouring in 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 4-of-5 three-pointers. Childs added seven first-half points, including KSU's final five points of the half.

KSU hit 40.7 percent (11-27) of its first-half shots, including a sizzling 6-of-9 from three-point range, but hit just 1-of-2 free throws, as NU committed just two first-half fouls.
