Courtesy of Nebraska Athletics
- Nebraska lost its first meeting with Georgia Southern and fell to 15-3 all-time against current
members of the Sun Belt Conference. - Running back Anthony Grant rushed 27 times for 138 yards and one touchdown. It marked
Grant’s third straight game to open the season with more than 100 rushing yards. Grant is the
first Husker with three straight 100-yard rushing games since Devine Ozigbo in 2018. - Grant is the first Husker to rush for 100 yards in the first three games of a season since Taylor
Martinez in 2010, and he is the first Husker running back to rush for 100 yards in the first three
games since Dan Alexander in 2000. - Grant has topped the century mark in the first three games of his Husker career, becoming the
first player to do that since Taylor Martinez in 2010. The last time a Husker running back topped
100 yards in each of his first three games as a Husker was Bobby Reynolds in 1950. - Quarterback Casey Thompson threw for 318 yards, his fifth career 300-yard passing game and
second at Nebraska. Thompson also rushed for 31 yards and accounted for four total
touchdowns, including a career-high three rushing touchdowns. - Wide receiver Marcus Washington had a career-high 123 receiving yards, his second career 100-
yard receiving game and first at Nebraska. - Freshman running back Ajay Allen rushed eight times for 76 yards and a touchdown. Allen’s 76
yards were a Nebraska best, bettering his 58 yards last week against North Dakota. - Receiver Brody Belt caught a 21-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter marking the first TD
reception of his career. - Receiver Trey Palmer had six receptions for 81 yards, his third straight game to open the season
with at least four receptions. - Safety Marques Buford Jr. intercepted a Georgia Southern pass in the second quarter, marking
his first career interception. He added his second interception in the fourth quarter to stop a
Georgia Southern scoring threat. Buford’s two interception game is the first by a Husker since
Deontai Williams had two picks last year against Fordham. - Punter Brian Buschini had a 65-yard punt on his first punt of the evening. The 65-yard punt is
the longest of his collegiate career, bettering a 62-yard punt against Sacramento State in 2021,
while Buschini was punting for Montana. Buschini punted four times in the game, averaging 50.5
yards per boot. - Linebacker Luke Reimer made nine tackles to increase his career tackle total to 190, moving him
into the top 50 on the Nebraska career tackles list. Reimer has 31 tackles this season and is the
first Husker to record 30 tackles in the first three games of a season since Lavonte David, who
had 32 tackles through the first three games in 2011. - Nickel back Luke Reimer had 11 career tackles, eclipsing his previous career high of eight set last
week against North Dakota. - Today’s game marked the 384th consecutive sellout at Memorial Stadium.
- Nebraska fell to 214-1 all-time when scoring 35 or more points at Memorial Stadium.
- Georgia Southern’s 642 yards of total offense marked the first time a Nebraska opponent
topped 600 yards since Penn State had 609 yards against the Huskers on Nov. 18, 2017, in State
College.
