Husker Women to Take On the Aggies; How Do These Teams Match Up?

Nebraska’s Alexis Markowski earned first-team All-Big Ten honors this season.

It isn’t just the Nebraska men’s team that has been paired with Texas A&M in this week’s first round of the NCAA basketball tournament.  Don’t look now, but the Husker women will also be playing the Aggies.

The two teams will meet Friday at 9:30 p.m. CDT in Corvallis, Oregon.

These teams used to play each other when both competed in the Big 12 Conference.  But when NU joined the Big Ten in 2011, the regular-season series between the two schools ended.  NU holds a 15-9 series lead over the Aggies.  The last time these two teams met was in 2013 when 6th-seeded NU upset the 3rd-seeded Aggies 74-63 on A&M’s home court at Reed Arena on March 25, 2013.  That win put NU in the Sweet Sixteen.

Husker Dan’s Women’s Prediction

The Nebraska women’s basketball team should get its 23rd win of the season Friday night.  NU has enough talent, experience, depth and desire to win this game.

Husker Dan’s Men’s Prediction

The Husker men’s team has the more difficult path to victory Friday (5:50 pm CDT) in Memphis, Tenn.  Texas A&M is a very good team.  If Nebraska is to pick up its first NCAA win in program history, it’s going to have to bring its A game for the entire night. NU certainly has the talent, grit, depth and passion to win the game.  So look for a contest that should go down to the wire.  Huskers win a nail-biter!

Hang on, Husker fans, and GBR!
