Monday Morning Quarterback: Will the Husker football team win 9 or more games this season?
The expectations for the Huskers in 2019 are rising. The (way) early preseason rankings are out, and the Huskers are getting great early placement. CBS Sports has Nebraska at preseason #17, USA Today put them at #19, ESPN at #20, and Sports Illustrated has the Huskers at #25.
The Huskers have the regular number of 12 games scheduled next year, with two byes later in the season. Three of the toughest matchups – Ohio State, Northwestern, and Wisconsin – are at home in Lincoln. Scott Frost and company had one of the top recruiting classes this winter, and continue to attract quality transfers.
A top bowl would be a tremendous season outcome for the Huskers. In most cases, it takes more than 8 wins to land one of the top bowl invites. With the top conference games at home, the two byes later in the season to rest and recuperate, the recruiting and transfer success combined, and the promise Scott Frost and team saw late last season, things are looking promising for the Huskers in 2019.
Do you think Nebraska will beat this magic 8 win mark and go to a major bowl next season?
