Coach Connie Yori

Opening Statement "That was a lot like the game in Iowa City. I want to compliment our team for their effort. For our effort. Iowa is a great basketball team with a lot of really good players. They've got offense at every spot. But our kids are great. We had a chance to win that game, even without Rachel (Theriot) and with Hailie (Sample) going down for a period of time. I just want to compliment our kids, and they try really hard.

I can't feel any worse for our seniors, but there's a next game. We've got a really big game on Sunday, so we have to look forward to that. Since Rachel has been out, we've been in every game. The Maryland game was a two-possession game. We had a chance to win at Rutgers and we had a chance to win tonight. You're searching a little bit to try and get the ball in the right people's hands at the right time without your starting point guard, and that's a little bit of a struggle.

I want to compliment Iowa for all that they did, but I want to compliment our team for being gritty. In coaching, you always want to win, but what's important is putting in the best effort that you can. On our defensive end and on our rebounding, we did a lot of really good things. We turned it over too much and that hurt us. They had a lot of big shots. I don't mind losing when you try hard and give your best effort. Yes, you'd like to have a possession back where you step out of bounds because those types of possessions will come back to haunt you, but this was not about a lack of effort or a lack of trying. Iowa is good and they have a really good team. They've got a good point guard, a good offense, good shooters. They're a good team. There is a reason why they are where they are.

All five of last losses have all been to top 25 teams. And all but one of them was close. So we're in the hunt."

On what has been the biggest focus of the last few weeks "Well it's only really been 10 days since Rachel got hurt. I think we've gotten better offensively since the moment she got hurt, but we're just not quite good enough. I mean we're playing three top 25 teams in a row. So we've made some strides, but in the meantime we just need to guard and get better on offense. It's not easy to guard every possession against a good offensive team. I know they scored 69, but they are capable of scoring 85 on any given night. We just need to guard and hopefully we can begin to make some strides offensively and find a way to have enough of the lead so it doesn't have to become a possession game at the end. They were denying Emily (Cady) the ball late. So anyways, just keep working. That's all you can do. Keep trying. And we haven't faulted our effort for even a second with this team."

On the status of junior guard Rachel Theriot "It's day to day. And I don't know about Hailie for sure, but she did go down. She came back in, though. When Hailie goes down like that, you know she's hurt. Hailie doesn't do that. She's one of those really tough kids. We'll see I guess tomorrow how it feels. Sometimes you can play through that, but tomorrow will be the telltale story."

Head Coach Lisa Bluder

Opening Statement "It was a tale of two halves for us today, thought Nebraska came out and played very, very well and we were pretty off. Again I thought it was their defense, I thought it created some things for them in the first half. In the second half we got it together and did a much better job defensively. We did a much better job reversing the ball, and looking for good shot opportunities. We were stagnant in the first half, in the second half we got the ball around a lot better. I thought Sam Logic played really well today, she did a great job. She is such an explosive player, she is so fast. Kali Peschel came in and hit huge shots, they didn't guard her and dared her to shoot and she stepped up with confidence and hit them."

On what Nebraska's defense does to make it tough "Sometimes they sag off quite a lot to try and clog up the paint.I thought we did a better job running our offense better in the second half. We didn't settle for those outside jumpers as much. We tried to create something in the middle, and I thought Chase (Coley) came in as a freshman and did a real nice job when she didn't play as much in the first half."

On the open shots "You will have to ask (Nebraska Coach) Connie (Yori). Definitely it was their gameplan, and they stuck to it. I know Kali, sometimes it is tough when they are sagging off of you sometimes, but she is a junior and she has been around the block. I am just really proud of her, and her toughness being able to handle that."

Senior Forward Emily Cady

On what Iowa did in the second half to change momentum "They kept getting power by running on transition and hitting spot-up shooters like (Melissa) Dixon. We didn't talk on defense, so that gave them momentum."

On Cady's increased aggressiveness "I feel like I try all the time, but I feel like I tried to be more aggressive."

On scouting Kali Peschel "Really good offensive rebounder, effort player, shooter. You're playing in the Big Ten. Anyone's capable of anything. We should've adjusted better and stopped her."

On defending the three-pointer "I felt like for the most part we did pretty well. There were a couple of times where we had a miscommunication and someone would be left wide open. In transition, we didn't match up very well and that led to three-pointers."

On losing three in a row "We just have to keep going game by game. We can't think about what happened. We can learn from what happened, but we can't focus on that. We need to focus on the next game."

On what to focus on while dealing with injuries "There is big things we have to work on. The main thing is just talking to each other because talking solves everything. If we need to work on defense, it starts with talking to each other. I think that will solve a lot of problems."

On Nebraska's 22 turnovers I think a lot of them were just stupid turnovers. How many did we have where we just stepped out of bounds? We would get a steal and just step out of bounds. Those are easily fixable. I'm not too worried about it, I think we'll be fine."

Senior Guard Brandi Jeffery

On what to focus on while dealing with injuries "Also, the little things like knowing where you are supposed to be on defense, knowing offense, getting open, making shots and getting confidence."

On what she is trying to do with Rachel Theriot out I'm just trying to be more aggressive and a better passer to my teammates. That's what Rachel did a lot."
