The Huskers sweep No. 12 Iowa State in Lincoln.
 
Lincoln. — The No. 10 Nebraska volleyball team made quick work of No. 12 Iowa State on Saturday night, sweeping the Cyclones 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-18) in front of 10,380 fans at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The Huskers and Cyclones faced off the first time as non-conference opponents. With the Huskers sweep on Saturday night, NU holds a 79-1 advantage in the all-time series that dates back to 1975.

Junior Gina Mancuso led the Huskers at the Devaney Center, totaling 14 kills on 35 attacks and a hitting percentage of .371. Mancuso also had 11 digs on the night, giving her the fourth double-double of her career. She also totaled three service aces for the Huskers. Sophomore Morgan Broekhuis notched 11 kills of her own, while junior Lauren Cook tallied 38 assists.

The Huskers held ISU to a .087 hitting percentage and 36 kills. The Cyclones committed 25 errors on the night, while Nebraska only committed 11. Iowa State and NU were nearly identical in digs, as the Cyclones had 56 and NU notched 55.

Nebraska saw Iowa State gain the advantage in the first set, taking a 10-6 lead over NU. The Huskers started to inch back with an error from Iowa State and a kill by Mancuso. Nebraska tied it up at 14 with a kill by Broekhuis. NU and ISU were knotted up again at 20, until another kill by Broekhuis put Nebraska ahead. The Huskers went on to take the first set, 25-23.

Broekhuis led NU in set one with five kills on 10 attacks. Mancuso and Brooke Delano each had four kills, while Nebraska hit .406 for the set. NU held ISU to a .200 hitting percentage and saw them make eight errors.

In the second set Nebraska took the early led at 7-3 on another error by the Cyclones. Nebraska stretched its lead to 10-4. A kill by Taylor Simpson made it 19-11 NU, and catapulted Nebraska to take the set, 25-15, on a service ace by Mancuso.

Mancuso led NU in the set with seven kills on 11 attacks, hitting .636. Hannah Werth tallied three kills for NU, while the Huskers hit .300 for the set. Iowa State hit -.030 for the set and tabbed only one block and seven assists. NU had five team blocks and 14 digs.

The Huskers' momentum carried them into the third set where they went up 5-3 on a kill by Hayley Thramer. The Cyclones came back with a fight to tie the match at nine, before a huge rally catapulted by Werth put NU up 10-9. Mancuso answered with another service ace to put Nebraska ahead, 11-9. The match was tied at 16-16, but the Huskers shifted into a new gear and didn't look back. An error by ISU gave NU a 21-16 advantage and led Nebraska to take the set 25-18, completing the 3-0 sweep of the Cyclones.

Nebraska saw Broekhuis and Thramer notch four kills in the set, while Werth had eight digs on her own. ISU was held to a .086 hitting percentage and committed nine errors.

The Huskers return to the Coliseum on Wednesday, Sept. 21 for their first Big Ten Conference match against Penn State. NU will take on the Nittany Lions at 7 p.m. in a match that will air live on the Big Ten Network.
