The Huskers' sweep of Indiana leaves John Cook unsatisfied.
 
Bloomington, Ind. — The No. 2 Nebraska Volleyball team (21-2, 14-1) swept the Indiana Hoosiers (25-19, 25-19, 25-20) at University Gym Friday night.

Morgan Broekhuis notched 12 kills on the night with a hitting percentage of .407. Gina Mancuso tallied 11 kills, while Hannah Werth had eight for the Huskers. Brooke Delano tabbed seven kills and zero errors for NU. Nebraska was guided offensively by Lauren Cook, who had 40 assists on the night. Lara Dykstra paced NU defensively with 13 digs.

Nebraska hit .321 for the match, while Indiana hit .217. The Huskers out-blocked IU 6-3.5.

Nebraska came out in the first set taking an 8-5 lead on a block by Brooke Delano. An attack error by the Hoosiers then gave the Huskers a 12-7 advantage. Kills by Mancuso and Werth put Nebraska ahead 18-12 and forced Indiana to call a timeout. NU posted five-straight points to go up 21-12, but Indiana returned with four consecutive points to close the gap to 23-18. Nebraska went on to win the first set 25-19.

Mancuso led the Huskers in the first set with four kills on 11 attacks. Broekhuis and Werth both had three kills, while Cook tallied 13 assists. Nebraska hit .364 for the set, while the Hoosiers hit just .154. Nebraska out-blocked Indiana 3-2.

Indiana came out to put up four consecutive points on the Huskers in the second set, going up 6-3. A kill by Mancuso put Nebraska within 10-8, and a blocking error by the Hoosiers cut their lead to 13-12. NU and IU were knotted up at 13 and 14 apiece, before Werth guided the Huskers to a 19-15 lead. Indiana cut the Huskers' lead to 21-18, but Nebraska responded to take the second set 25-19 and go up 2-0 in the match.

Broekhuis tabbed four kills in the second set, while Werth had three and Mancuso and Hayley Thramer both had two kills. Cook notched 11 assists in the second set, while Dykstra guided NU defensively in the set with seven digs. Nebraska hit .182, as the Hoosiers hit .105.

The Hoosiers came out fighting in the third set, taking a 6-4 lead over Nebraska. NU came back to tie the set at seven and a double-block by Cook and Jordan Wilberger gave the Huskers an 8-7 edge. Indiana did not back down and came back to score three-straight points to tie the set at 13. A kill by Delano put NU ahead 16-14, as the Huskers then went up 19-17 on a couple of errors by Indiana. A kill by Werth gave Nebraska a 22-20 lead and propelled NU to a 25-20 third set win, completing the sweep of the Hoosiers.

Broekhuis and Mancuso had five kills in the third set, as Delano had three. Broekhuis, Werth and Dykstra all notched two digs while the Huskers hit .469 for the set.

The Huskers return to action tomorrow night as they travel to West Lafayette, Ind., to face the No. 10 Purdue Boilermakers at 6 p.m. CT. The match can be seen live on BTN.com with a subscription.
