Huskers Bounce Back, Take Down Albany
 
Fort Collins, Colo. — After dropping a heartbreaking five-set match to Colorado State on Friday night, the Huskers rebounded to top Albany 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-12) Saturday afternoon at Moby Arena.

Hannah Werth led the Huskers against Albany, totaling 12 kills on 24 attacks and a hitting percentage of .417. Brooke Delano 10 kills, while Morgan Broekhuis tabbed nine of her own along with Gina Mancuso. Lauren Cook notched 34 assists and the Huskers totaled 41 team digs. NU held Albany to a .038 hitting percentage as they totaled 23 hitting errors.

The Huskers took an early lead in the first set, eventually stretching it to 16-5 and winning the set 25-12.

Mancuso totaled four kills on seven attempts in the first set, marking a hitting percentage of .571. Werth notched five kills, while Cook had 12 assists of her own. The Huskers had two service aces in the first set, behind the efforts of Mancuso and Lara Dykstra. Nebraska held Albany to a .154 hitting percentage and saw them tally five hitting errors for the set.

Albany came out with some fight in the second set, before Nebraska clinched a lead of 13-9 and the Great Danes had to call a timeout. Albany had no answer for NU in the second half of the match, and Nebraska took the second set 25-13. NU headed into the locker room up 2-0.

In the second set Delano and Broekhuis each totaled five hills, and Nebraska notched a hitting percentage of .406. The Huskers held Albany to .075 hitting percentage and seven hitting errors.

In the third set NU jumped out to a 9-3 lead on a kill by Mancuso. Nebraska stretched it to 15-7 as Albany called another timeout. The Huskers took the third and final set 25-12 and clinched the match 3-0.

Werth tabbed four kills in the third set, while Nebraska had a total of 13 kills for the set. Albany hit -.079, and Nebraska's defense notched 15 digs.

The Huskers return home next weekend to host the Ameritus Player's Challenge at the Coliseum. Nebraska will take on Creighton on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. The match will air live on NET. The Huskers then host St. Mary's on Friday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Coliseum and close the weekend against Weber State on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Coliseum.
