Lincoln, Neb. — Andrew White III scored a season-high 30 points and Shavon Shields had his third 20-point game of the season as Nebraska defeated Abilene Christian 73-63 Saturday afternoon at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Cornhuskers, who outscored the Wildcats by 12 in the second half, were paced by White, whose scoring output was the highest by a Husker since Terran Petteway scored 32 against Michigan State last season. Shields scored 21 points while Tai Webster chipped in 10.

Andrew White scored 30 points to lead Nebraska past Abilene Christian.

The Huskers started slow, not hitting a shot from the floor until Michael Jacobson's basket nearly five minutes into the game. NU used a 13-3 run midway through the half to take the lead. After the Wildcats clawed back to tie the game, White hit a 3 pointer in the final minute as the Huskers took a 36-34 lead into the locker room. Shields led the Big Red with 14 first-half points and White chipped in 12 in the first 20 minutes.

Duran Porter led Abilene Christian with 17 points, while Jaylen Franklin had 14. ACU's Jovan Crnic scored 10 points in the first 10 minutes of the game, but managed just three the rest of the way. The Wildcats, in just their third year of NCAA Division I affiliation, shot 47 percent from the floor, but were outrebounded by the Huskers 34-25.

The Huskers will travel to Omaha on Wednesday to take on in-state rival Creighton. Tipoff with the Bluejays is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be carried on the Husker Sports Network and televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.
