Maryland Head Coach Mark Turgeon

Opening statement: "I'm proud of my guys. They figured it out and got it done. Melo [Trimble] was terrific down the stretch. You have to give Nebraska a lot of credit, they shot the ball really well. They haven't made shots like that all year. I thought we did a great job on [Terran] Petteway. Our game plan was to try to stop him, and I thought we did a pretty good job doing that. Considering the weather, I thought we had a great crowd tonight with everyone coming out and supporting us."

On Melo Timble's two long three-point shots: "Nothing Melo does surprises me because I've been watching him do this his entire life. The second one was really deep, and I was hoping that he had enough legs to get it there. When he released it, it looked good. I was surprised he missed a free throw because he is that good. I thought he was very patient and let the game come to him. He was very efficient tonight."

On Dez Wells' performance: "Dez just wants to win. He's at a point where he can feel it and taste it. We do whatever we have to do to win. He's a good player and he does a lot for us. I feel very comfortable when he is guarding their best player or when the ball is in his hands. He is just helping us win."

Nebraska Head Coach Tim Miles

On Maryland keeping Terran Petteway in check offensively: "Dez Wells was really good on him, he was physical. When we were able to get by him or get him switched on to someone else, they were showing him two at the rim. We just couldn't get him a clean look at the rim. He had a couple of good looks from three that just didn't go. I just thought team-wise they did a nice job of knowing where he's at and then when he did get by someone, they flowed to him well."

On preparing for Melo Trimble versus actually playing against him: "[Melo Trimle] is a special player, he's a dynamic player, he's clever with the ball, he's so strong to go in and be able to draw fouls, and then he just steps up and makes those two threes late. It says a lot about his competitiveness. I've heard Mark [Turgeon] talk about him during the summer and he's lived up to the billing for sure."

On Maryland winning a close game: "[Melo] Trimble made huge plays down the stretch; he really hurt us. Those are the two threes that I remember that seemed like the daggers. They might have hit some free throws too I think. I don't know their team free throw shooting percentage, but I know who to foul and there aren't many of those guys. They're a good free throw shooting team, that's what you need late in games. They have veteran leadership like Dez Wells, which I think is important because he is such a competitor. His shot against Northwestern was a big time play and tonight I thought Trimble's threes were really the separation point."

Maryland Freshman Guard Melo Trimble On his two threes:

"The first one wasn't too tough, he's a smaller defender so I just rose on top of him but he is a great defender so that was basically all I could do because I knew I couldn't get past him. He's quick on his feet so that was the easier shot."

On Coach Turgeon's efforts after the offseason: "He's done a good job of keeping us humble and also pushing us. I think what happened last year was we got a new group that came in and I think he just wanted to focus on what was going to happen this year."

On becoming more comfortable as a team during home games: "I think with our fans being there and them being into the game as well as us being zoned in helps us a lot especially going down the stretch of the game."

Maryland Senior Guard Richaud Pack

On Maryland's close games this season: "We've been really good in close games. I think it's just an attitude so far, we just expect to win and we make the right plays down the stretch. When we need to focus and make the right play, we do it."

Maryland Senior Guard/Forward Dez Wells

On how he inspires the younger players: "I give them what I was given as a freshman. I take that upon myself to give those guys what was given to me. Keep their heads up and no matter what mistakes they make to keep playing through it because you can't take anything back. Once you make a mistake you have to keep pushing, keep your head on straight, and stay in-tune with the game to stay focused on what's going on."

On how keeping their heads up has affected their wins: "We have a lot of good shooters too. Damonte Dodd has also been doing a really good job helping to protect the paint for us."

Nebraska Junior Guard Terran Petteway

On the atmosphere: "Yeah, it was pretty good. I mean to come out here in a great arena like this was great. Maryland has a lot of tradition. For us it was a great experience."

On whether Maryland played any differently than he expected: "No, not really. I mean we had to contain Melo [Trimble]. He kind of went off on us and I think that kind of hurt. But overall we played our hardest on the offensive and defensive end. Guys like Walt (Pitchford) made some tough shots for us and Nick [Fuller] came off the bench and gave us great minutes but it just didn't go our way tonight."

On the trio of Dez Wells, Jake Layman, and Melo Trimble: "We tried to contain those guys. We did an okay job on Melo [Trimble] but he still hit two big threes down the stretch that kind of hurt us."
