Huskers rout Kansas State, 10-4

The Huskers out hit the Wildcats 12-8 and improved to 17-0 on the season when notching double-digit hits. The bottom of NU's lineup did damage all night, as the 6-7-8-9 hitters totaled five hits and seven RBIs. The four Huskers combined for two doubles, one triple and one home run.
Freshman Garett King improved to 4-0 in the win and the Huskers are now 7-0 in games where King starts. The right hander tossed four shutout innings, while giving up three hits and a walk. Five relievers worked behind King, including Austin Christensen, who produced a career-high four strikeouts over 2.0 innings of work. The Husker pitching staff notched 10 strikeouts while walking three.
The Huskers the Nebraska baseball team (30-13, 6-6 Big Ten) return to conference play this weekend at Iowa. For the third straight year the Huskers will play the Hawkeyes on the road, with the series opener set for 6:05 p.m. Friday at Duane Banks Stadium.Nebraska's offense recorded two or more runs off of each of KSU's first three pitchers. The Wildcats went through six arms, and four of them gave up at least two runs. Starter Levi MaVorhis lasted just 1.1 innings after giving up three runs on a hit and three walks. KSU issued four walks while striking out two Huskers.
MaVorhis retired the first four Huskers he faced to start the game, but then issued consecutive walks to Austin Darby and Schreiber. Making his first start in seven games, Elijah Dilday stepped in and lined a double down the right-field line to give the Huskers a 1-0 lead. MaVorhis then loaded the bases with a walk to Taylor Fish and KSU went to reliever Mark Biesma. No. 9 hitter Jake Schleppenbach welcomed Biesma with a two-RBI double that put the Huskers on top, 3-0.
The Huskers needed only two hits to score two runs in the third, as they both left the park. Miller led off the frame with homer to right field and two batters later Schreiber lifted a solo shot, also to right field, that put the Huskers ahead 5-0. It was the first time this season the Huskers have hit two home runs in the same inning.
Nebraska scored for the third straight inning in the fifth with two runs on three hits, including doubles by Miller and Jake Placzek, extending its lead to 7-0.
The Wildcats got on the board in the top of the sixth when Tyler Wolfe started the frame with a triple to deep center field. The Huskers nearly stranded KSU's shortstop, but Steve Serratore delivered a one-out RBI single. Christensen then ended the inning with back-to-back strikeouts.
The Huskers got the run back and added on two more in the bottom of the seventh with three runs on four hits. Dilday picked up his second extra-base hit of the game with a two-RBI triple and he then scored on a RBI single by Fish.
KSU put up three runs off the backend of NU's bullpen in the top of the eighth and had bases loaded with two outs, but sophomore Max Knutson came in and shutdown the threat with a strikeout. Knutson tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning to finish off the win, including his second strikeout of the night to end the game.
