Lindsey Moore makes history in NU's win over Florida A&M.
 
Lincoln — Lindsey Moore notched the first triple-double in Nebraska women's basketball history with 12 points and career highs of 11 assists and 10 rebounds, to lead the Huskers to a 73-57 win over Florida A&M on Sunday night at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

With the victory, Nebraska concluded regular-season non-conference play with a 10-4 record, while Florida A&M slipped to 5-7 on the year. The Huskers also improved to 8-0 at home while stretching their home winning streak to 28 games, just one win shy of NU's school-record.

Moore, a 5-9 sophomore point guard from Covington, Wash., locked up the triple-double with her career-high 10th rebound with 1:07 left in the game. Nebraska Coach Connie Yori subbed in for Moore 10 seconds later, and Moore walked off the court to a standing ovation from the nearly 3,500 Husker fans in attendance.

"I knew I was getting close on the assists and I talked to Cat (Redmon) about working together to get double-doubles, because at the time Cat had eight points and already had the boards," Moore said. "It took me a couple times to get that assist, but Cat got her double-double because she was getting fouled and scoring at the line. It's pretty cool to be the first in school history to get one."

Moore, who finished with a career-high four steals, got all 10 of her rebounds on the defensive end.

"It's a pretty amazing accomplishment to be the first to get one, especially considering some of the players who have played here, like WNBA All-Star Anna DeForge," Yori said. "She deserved it today. She played a great game for us and made a ton of plays."

Senior Catheryn Redmon, a 6-3 center from Grand Prairie, Texas, added her sixth career double-double and third of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while adding a pair of blocked shots.

Freshman forward Jordan Hooper led all scorers with 20 points, while adding seven rebounds and an assist for the Huskers, while junior guard Kaitlyn Burke provided a strong performance of her own with eight points, six rebounds and four assists without committing a turnover.

Despite several big games individually, it took Nebraska until the second half to shake the scrappy Rattlers.

The Huskers raced to a 24-12 lead to open the game by hitting 9-of-15 shots, including 4-of-8 three-pointers, but Florida A&M rallied. The Rattlers got 10 first-half points from Tameka McKelton and nine on a trio of three-pointers from Christian Rateree to bring FAMU back. McKelton's three-pointer with 2:48 left in the half gave the Rattlers their first lead of the game at 32-31.

Antonia Bennett, who hit just 2-of-7 shots in the first half, made her last attempt count by hitting a left-handed bank from the left corner off an inbounds pass with 0.5 seconds left to give Florida A&M a 36-34 halftime lead.

FAMU hit 15-of-33 shots from the field, including 6-of-13 three-pointers in the first half, while NU hit just 13-of-33 field goal attempts and 5-of-13 three-pointers. In the final 12 minutes of the half, NU hit just 4-of-18 shots, including just one of its last five three-point attempts. Nebraska did hit 3-of-4 first-half free throws and did not send the Rattlers to the line. In fact, the Huskers were not whistled for a foul in the opening 20 minutes. NU outrebounded FAMU, 23-15, in the first half but committed eight turnovers compared to six for Florida A&M.

The Huskers started the second half similar to their start to the game, but the Rattlers struggled early in the second stanza.

After a defensive rebound by Moore to open the second half, she found Hooper for a wide open three to give NU the lead at 37-36 just 34 seconds into the game. Hooper then returned the favor by assisting on a Moore three less than a minute later to put the Huskers up 40-36.

Hooper hit a pair of free throws to push the edge to six, before a Bennett layup trimmed the margin back to 42-38 with 14:57 left.

Moore got the Huskers going again with an assist to Redmon, before Redmon added a second straight basket on a putback of her own missed layup attempt to make it 46-38 Huskers with 13:40 left.

Moore then notched a steal and was rewarded with an assist from Burke for Moore's third three-pointer of the game to push NU's edge to double-digits at 49-38 with 13:14 to play. After a Hooper jumper, Moore got another steal and found Jessica Periago for another three-pointer to extend NU's margin to 54-38 with 11:33 left.

The Huskers held FAMU to just two points in the first 10 minutes of the second half, as the Rattlers went 1-for-15 from the field and committed four turnovers as NU built a 55-38 advantage. Nebraska's lead grew as large as 21 points on several occcasions in the second half before settling for the 16-point win.

Rateree finished with 15 points on 5-of-8 three-point shooting to lead the Rattlers, while McKelton added 15 points and a trio of threes. The Huskers were able to hold Bennett in check, surrendering just nine points and six boards to FAMU's second-leading scorer. Bennett went just 3-for-14 from the field.

Harleen Sidhu added a season-high six points on a pair of threes for the Huskers, while Periago and Kellie McCann-Smith each contributed five points for the Husker reserves.

Nebraska notched their 24th double-digit victory in its last 25 home games despite hitting just 38.8 percent (26-67) from the field. NU did connect on 40 percent (12-30) of its three-pointers, while hitting 9-of-14 free throws. The Huskers outrebounded FAMU, 50-34, and won the turnover battle, 14-13.

Florida A&M hit just 32.8 percent (20-61) of its shots from the field, but did connect on 9-of-20 (45 percent) three-pointers. FAMU was also 8-of-9 at the line.

Nebraska opens Big 12 Conference action on Saturday, Jan. 8, when the Huskers clash with Oklahoma. The Sooners have won three Big 12 regular-season titles in the past six years and advanced to back-to-back NCAA Final Fours in 2009 and 2010.
