Monday Morning Quarterback: Which Husker football team would win – 1971 or 1995?

The 1971 Huskers were undefeated as they won their second national championship. They dominated their entire schedule, except for the “Game of the Century” 35-31 win over Oklahoma. They won their other 12 games by 24 points or more, including a 38-6 stomping of #2 Alabama in the Orange Bowl.

The 1995 Huskers dominated on the way to an undefeated season and the national championship. The team averaged 53.2 points per game while giving up only 14.5. Ending the season against the highly touted Florida Gators in the Orange Bowl, the Huskers delivered a 62-24 beatdown.
