Monday Morning Quarterback: Should college football have a commissioner or other governing body?

Category: Football

Speaking at a news conference Monday, Nick Saban was asked what his thoughts were on whether college football needed a commissioner. The Alabama coach said he thinks it’s important “that we have something or someone, some organizational body that can bring everyone together.”

Saban went on to say “And I don’t know if that’s a commissioner, if it’s some council, I don’t know if it’s a committee someplace. I really don’t know the best way to do that, but I do think that it would benefit college football if the five major conferences could always sort of come together on what’s best for college football.”

What do you think, is it time for college football to move beyond the existing D-I oversight committee and put in place some type of commissioner or overall governing body?
