HUSKER
FANS' SALUTE TO THE TROOPS UPDATE
As many of you know, the second annual "Salute To The Troops" celebration
is scheduled for the weekend of September 19th-20th at the Cornhusker Marriott
Hotel in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Veterans from any war and from any branch of service and their families are
invited to attend. Event activities include a behind the scene's tour of both
Memorial Stadium and the new Tom & Nancy Osborne Sports complex. Attendees
will also be treated to a special Tunnel Walk ceremony that will include a
chance to run onto the field at Memorial Stadium to the sound of the Tunnel
Walk music. It will be a "Field of Husker Dreams" event that will
let attendees imagine what it would be like to catch a pass or kick the winning
field goal for the Huskers.
We will have three buses (compliments of Kincaid Motorcoaches) that will take
everyone to Memorial Stadium and back to the hotel.
There will also be a Husker Football Watch Party Saturday afternoon (Nebraska
@ Virginia Tech-2:30 kickoff). People will be able to watch the Huskers beat
the Hokies on a giant TV screen in the ballroom of the Cornhusker Marriott.
There will be plenty of food and beverages for all who attend.
The following morning, there will be a brunch that will include a special
color guard ceremony. Heisman Trophy winner and ex-Husker great, Eric Crouch,
will be our featured speaker. Reservations have been filling up for "Salute",
so if you plan to attend, please register as soon as possible.
For reservations and to donate to the event, go to www.huskersalute.org.
All events (except the tour) will be at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel in Lincoln,
Nebraska.
There is a $20.00 registration fee, but all the money goes directly to helping
our men and women in the military. We are an all volunteer organization. All
donations are tax deductible (501{c} 3).
Donations have been steady, but we have still not reached our goal. Anderson
Auto Group serving Lincoln and Grand Island, Nebraska has offered a way
help us raise money by contributing $125.00 to "Salute" for every
car it sells between now and September 30th. All they ask is for the buyer
to give
the certificate to the salesperson up front so Anderson Auto will know
to contribute to the event.
Last year's event drew nearly 300 veterans and their families. Please help
us with your donations. No amount is too small. Thanks and God Bless our troops!
