QUESTIONS:
1.) Which
coach has more Big 12 championship titles, Frank Solich (Nebraska) or Mack
Brown (Texas)?
2.) Which NU
quarterback holds the record for most career TD passes?
3.) What's the
total number of TD passes thrown by the QB in question #2?
4.) When is
the last time the Huskers did not play a football game on two consecutive
Saturdays in September?
5.) In the
next year, how many schools will ask permission to talk with Bo Pelini about
head coaching opportunities?
HUSKER RED
EYE
Transplanted Husker
fan Jim Walker of Gulf Shores, Alabama (formerly of Beatrice,
Nebraska) recently sent me the following picture of his grandson. Jim
says, "...as you can see, he is being raised appropriately and already has that
certain gleam in his eyes!"

Thanks for writing,
Jim. If any of you have other interesting Big Red pictures you'd like
to share with your fellow Husker fans, send them to: [email protected]

TROY STATE OF
MIND
The cartoon shows a
doctor talking to one of his middle-aged, out-of-shape male
patients.
"You're in
quite good health for a man in your condition," he says
tactfully.
Much the same could
be said about the Husker offense through the first 4 games this
year. It has sputtered and stalled all too often. If not for
the Bo Crew, the Huskers would be lucky to be at .500. This
week, Troy State visits Lincoln for a 12:30 p.m. game with the
Huskers.
Yes, last week, the
Men of Troy beat Marshall, a team that beat K-State at Manhattan,
and if we extrapolate all that, the Huskers could be in for a real
battle this Saturday.
With all the upsets
this year in college football, NU can ill-afford to take any team lightly.
Just ask Alabama, Wisconsin, K-State, Texas, Michigan and Pittsburgh.
The Huskers, with
their beige Buick offense, must come out ready to play, or
the Huskers could join the list of teams that have fallen to huge
underdogs.
Do the Huskers have
enough to win at home against the Trojans? Of course. The
unmistakable source of strength for this year's Husker team this season is
the defense. They come ready to play every snap of every
game. If the offense can eliminate turnovers and score at least 20
points, the Huskers will be hard to beat in any game this
year.
This Saturday's
12:30 CDT game with Troy State should give the Huskers the luxury of
playing a lot of players, including Joe Dailey.
If the quarterbacks can pose a sustained threat to pass,
it will open up the running game and should allow for some deep TDs to Ross "The
Boss" Pilkington, Isaiah "Can You See" Fluellen and Matt "Where's He At?"
Herian.
If you want to see a
fun, entertaining Husker game, this is going to be a good one-never mind that
the game isn't deemed worthy of being televised.

HUSKER DAN
SEZ
This week, Troy
State will be riding high after its upset of Marshall. But this week,
reality sits in-Dorothy returns to Kansas in black and
white, Cinderella's carriage turns into a pumpkin and it's January and all
the Christmas bills are due.
This Saturday, the
Trojans will burst under pressure-the pressure of the Blackshirts and their
relentless attack.
There'll be no
joy

Troy.
