Huskers hand first defeat to visiting Aggies
Jerry Tagge threw two touchdown passes and Van Brownson pitched another as the Nebraska Cornhuskers ran their unbeaten string to 23 with a 42-6 win over undefeated Utah State.
With 67,421 on hand for the fourth straight home game, Tagge hit Bill Olds with a 14-yard TD strike and plunged for a touchdown himself as NU took a 14-0 first-quarter lead.
Nebraska used the air for a third TD and a 21-0 halftime lead when monster Dave Mason ran 53 yards with a pass interception.
Tagge again scored in the third period and then passed 36 yards to Johnny Rodgers as the Huskers rolled to win No. 4. Brownson wrapped up the victory with a 22-yard pass to Frosty Anderson, who made a sensational catch in the end zone.
Utah State deprived the Black Shirts of their much-sought shutout when Tony Adams tossed a 34-yard TD pass to Bob Wicks in the third quarter.
