Signing day preview

(Scratching beard) Is this thing still here? Is it still there? Yeah, it's still there. Let's roll, baby! Welcome, Husker Nation, to a National Signing Day edition of the Carriker Chronicles. Arguably, the second most important day of the entire offseason, right behind my birthday. Send me presents! My voice is doing a little bit better today so let's hit it shall we? Here are my top ten Husker recruits to keep an eye on today throughout National Signing Day.

I'm going to start right off with Damion Daniels. 6'3", 315 pounds, a 3-star nose guard. He reminds me a little bit of Vincent Valentine. He's got some size and athletic ability. He's gonna make his announcement today. He's got it narrowed down to Colorado, Texas-San Antonio, and Nebraska. I hope we don't lose out to Texas-San Antonio. And regardless of the stars, he might be the most important commitment of the day because we need a freaking nose guard to run this 3-4 defense!

Next up: Joseph Lewis, a 6'2" 200 pound 5 star wide receiver out of California. Now, he has it narrowed down to Arizona, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, and USC. He's a LA kid so I kinda expect him to end up going to USC, but Nebraska has recruited him as hard as anybody this year.

Next up is Elijah Blades, a top-100 prospect. He could play cornerback, safety. He de-committed from Florida and there's a very good possibility he could flip and come play for the Huskers.

Next up, and I practiced this, I hope I get this thing right -- Deommodore Lenoir -- another top-100 prospect. He's a cornerback and what I love about him is his versatility. He rushed for almost 1,200 yards his senior year of high school. He had 663 receiving yards and he passed for almost 600 yards! He has it narrowed down to Nebraska and Oregon.

Next up: Greg Johnson, top-100 prospect. A cornerback. Now, he was committed to Arizona when Donte Williams was there. Now it's down to Nebraska and USC and it's thought that Lewis and Johnson will kinda go to the same school together wherever they do end up going. Even though Johnson is slightly more of a polished player overall.

Next up: CJ Verdell, a running back out of California. Lemme drop these stats on ya: he has back to back 2,000 yard rushing seasons, 64 career touchdowns and he averages 10.4 yards per carry! No, that's NOT a mispronunciation -- 10.4 yards per carry! (Even though I mis-pronounciated THAT!) That is pretty awesome ladies and gentlemen. Now he's committed elsewhere, but he did recently host members of the Huskers coaching staff. So we might have a shot there. Some of the other players to keep an eye on: wide receiver Bryan Thompson has it narrowed down to Nebraska, Oregon, UCLA. A couple of cornerbacks, we've got Tony Wallace, hope I get this one right: Michael Onyemaobi. And keep an eye on wide receiver Jamire Calvin. Decommitted from Oregon State, committed to the Huskers. Now I'm hearing rumors he's gonna possibly go to Washington State. I know it was down to us and Washington State when he made his decision last time so keep your eye on him. He man stay with the Big Red, stay with the Huskers! We're doing big things here.

Now, here are my predictions. There are some other players to keep your eye on but here are my top ten recruits to watch throughout today for the Huskers. Here are my predictions, and you can not hold me accountable to this. I have no control over what high school kids do, but here's my best predictions!

I think we're going to end up getting Damion Daniels. I think we have a good shot at Elijah Blades, Onyemaobi, and in a slight surprise getting the running back CJ Verdell. And I do think -- 51% of me thinks we keep Calvin. Not extremely confident but I hope so. And possibly the cornerback Wallace.

Now we have recruited all of these guys pretty hard. He would be the one guy we would have to make a little room for if he comes to play for the Huskers. But, this is National Signing Day. It's a very special day so I'm doing a 2 a day baby, just like a hot August day in fall camp. So I'm putting out another show tonight and it's going to be my first ever interview on this show for the Carriker Chronicles. I'm not going to drop his name cuz he hasn't officially signed with the Huskers yet. Once he signs, we'll do the interview, we'll put it out tonight at 7 pm central time. I'll give ya a hint: he is the highest-ranked recruit we currently have. He's one of the top 50 recruits in the entire country. So tune in tonight 7 pm central time to hear that phenomenal interview. So until then: Go Big Red and always remember to throw the bones!
