Postgame notes
  • The crowd of 111,037 is the third-largest ever to see a Nebraska football game, trailing only crowds of 113,18 (2011) and 112,204 (2013) in Nebraska’s two previous visits to Michigan Stadium. Today’s game marked the seventh time in school history Nebraska has played in front of a crowd of more than 100,000 fans.
  • The loss gave Michigan a 5-4-1 edge in the all-time series between the schools, including a 4-2 edge in Ann Arbor.
  • Nebraska dropped to 5-3 in Big Ten openers since joining the conference in 2011, including 1-3 in conference openers away from Lincoln.
  • Sophomore cornerback Dicaprio Bootle had five pass breakups, setting a career high in breakups. The five breakups tie for the third-most pass breakups in a single game in Nebraska history and for the most by a Husker in a Big Ten Conference game. The last time a Nebraska player had five breakups came in 2012, when Stanley Jean-Baptiste had five breakups at Northwestern. Bootle has seven pass breakups through three games this season, one more than any Husker had during the 2017 season.
  • Receiver Stanley Morgan Jr. caught three passes for 61 yards in the game. Morgan caught a pass for the 29th straight game and caught at least three passes for the 15th straight game.
  • Junior linebacker Mohamed Barry had a second-quarter sack for the first sack of his career. Barry finished the game with a game-high 11 tackles, including a career-high three tackles for loss.
  • Sophomore safety Deontai Williams recorded his first career interception in the fourth quarter.
  • Junior running back Wyatt Mazour scored on a 3-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, his first career touchdown.
  • Freshman place-kicker Barret Pickering connected on a 35-yard field goal in the third quarter, his longest of the season.

Commentary

Stryker

From top to bottom, Nebraska is not as disciplined a program as I thought it would be three games into Frost’s first season.

HuskerMax
Vogel

Husker fans expected to see a team that improved week-to-week. Instead, Nebraska has actually gotten worse each week of this 2018 season.

Hail Varsity
Christopherson

The Huskers are just a car in flames on the side of the road with the special teams at the moment.

Sipple

I didn't envision Frost's crew getting beaten in the trenches to such an astonishing degree. Keep in mind, Michigan's offensive line was regarded as a team weakness.

Lincoln Journal Star

Can Frost get Nebraska to compete, to care about football, to live and breathe it, as much as he does? How about half as much?

Omaha World-Herald
Callahan

We knew Nebraska's offensive line didn't play well last week, but Saturday magnified their deficiencies even more.

Let's not go crazy here. Michigan beat up a bad team. But it sure looked like progress.

Detroit Free Press
Wojnowski

It’s hard to tell if this was more illuminating for Michigan and its offensive line, or simply humiliating for the Cornhuskers, who didn’t seem interested in tackling, or blocking, or competing.
