Sept. 23: Tooth trouble for Brownson.

Wet weather forced the Huskers indoors for parts of Wednesday’s practice, but the offense got in a good deal of work on Memorial Stadium’s artificial surface once the rain subsided.

There was hope that Guy Ingles might play Saturday against Army. For a third consecutive practice, the senior split end was sidelined by the bruised ribs suffered in the Southern Cal game.

Jerry Tagge and Van Brownson alternated at quarterback with the top offense. Brownson left about 20 minutes early for treatment of an abscessed tooth.

The Omaha World-Herald reported that a Cotton Bowl scout would attend Saturday’s game, and reporters were being sent by Sports Illustrated and the New York Times.
