An intestinal ailment continued to make the rounds Tuesday as the Huskers prepared for Missouri.

Quarterback Jerry Tagge left practice early after feeling ill. Three players — fullback Dan Schneiss, linebacker Pat Morell and safety Bill Kosch — were not at full speed after being sidelined by the bug Monday.

Left guard Dick Rupert was slowed by a bruised hip, and it was unknown whether he or Keith Wortman would be the starter.

Coach Bob Devaney said Nebraska was adjusting its pass protection in anticipation of a fierce pass rush from the Tigers, rated as seven-point underdogs by oddsmakers.

Offensive tackle Bob Newton was named Big Eight lineman of the week for his performance against Minnesota. In the weekly polls released Tuesday, Nebraska rose a notch to No. 5 in the coaches’ rankings but remained No. 6 in the Associated Press top 20. One coach gave Nebraska a No. 1 vote.
