The Huskers practiced on artificial turf again Tuesday because of wet fields, but coach Bob Devaney hoped to conduct workouts on grass the rest of the week to prepare for the natural turf at Colorado’s Folsom Field.

Split end Woody Cox was getting work at flanker to give Johnny Rodgers some rest. Rodgers had a sore ankle but was expected to be good to go against the Buffaloes.

In the polls released Tuesday, Nebraska remained No. 4 but strengthened its position by boosting its point total by 37 in the AP tally and 27 in the UPI poll.

Oddsmakers listed Nebraska as an 11½-point favorite. Devaney cautioned that the 3-3 Buffs had plenty of talent and were “as tough as anybody” when they didn’t give the ball away.

This would be the Huskers’ only televised game of the regular season. ABC announced that it was giving the regional telecast a bigger footprint than originally planned.
