Dec. 19: New look for Huskers.
Fan

The team was starting a five-day break from practices Saturday, so there wasn’t much happening on the Nebraska football front.

However, fans were about to get their first glimpse of the Huskers’ bowl uniforms. If that sounds less than noteworthy, consider this: The red jerseys featured something never seen before in 81 seasons of Nebraska football — the players’ names displayed on the back. The fabric was also different — slightly lighter in weight than what the team was accustomed to wearing.

The jerseys’ on-field debut was still 13 days away. The team was scheduled to reassemble on Christmas Eve for the flight to Miami.
