Lincoln, Neb. — The No. 9 Nebraska volleyball team began the second half of the Big Ten schedule with a 25-11, 25-17, 25-14 sweep of Rutgers on Friday night at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

The Huskers are 17-4 overall and 8-3 in the Big Ten. Rutgers fell to 4-19 overall and 1-10 in Big Ten play.

Nebraska served a season-high 10 aces in the victory with sophomore Annika Albrecht posting six, one shy of the school record. The last Husker with six aces in a match was Michelle Lynch in 2004. The Husker serve was on target all night, as Justine Wong-Orantes contributed two aces, while Kadie Rolfzen and Sydney Townsend each had one, with Townsend serving a few lengthy Husker runs.

Nebraska outhit Rutgers .315 to .071, a season low for a Husker opponent. Nebraska had a 7-5 blocks advantage.

Kadie Rolfzen led the way with 12 kills and a .407 hitting percentage. She also had 10 digs for her ninth double-double of the season. Mikaela Foecke had six kills and hit .357. Amber Rolfzen had five kills and four blocks and hit .455. Kelly Hunter had 27 assists and nine digs. Justine Wong-Orantes recorded 10 digs.

Meme Fletcher led Rutgers with 10 kills and 13 digs.

Set 1: In a 25-11 win, the Huskers hit .520 and held Rutgers to .000. Cecilia Hall had four kills on four swings, while the Huskers made just one attack error. Nebraska led 4-3 before a Hall kill started an 8-2 run and put NU ahead 12-5. After two Rutgers points, Nebraska went on a 6-0 run to take control, 18-7.

Set 2: Nebraska won 25-17 after going on an 8-0 run when it was 10-8. Although the Huskers hit just .147 in the set, they still held Rutgers to .079 and recorded three service aces and four blocks. Rutgers fought off four set points before Nebraska closed the deal on a Hunter dump.

Set 3: Rutgers took its first lead of the match as the Scarlet Knights went up 2-0. But a Kadie Rolfzen kill ended that, and three aces by Albrecht made it a 6-0 run for the Big Red. Leading 16-12, the Huskers finished the match off on a 9-2 run to win 25-14.
