This week in Husker history
The week of Sept. 30 to Oct. 6, looking back in stretches of years divisible by five:
 
1902: Nebraska beats Colorado 10-0 in Boulder while reportedly using just six different plays on offense.
 
1907: The Huskers overpower South Dakota, 39-0, avenging a 4-0 defeat in 1906. (Full-page PDF here)
 
1917: The Cornhuskers score 15 touchdowns and 10 PATs as they open the season with a 100-0 thrashing of Nebraska Wesleyan. Wesleyan gained just three first downs. The line score:

              Nebraska ..... 19  20  34  27  - 100
 
1927: Halfback Glenn Presnell, future Cornhusker head coach, scores the only points in a 6-0 victory over Iowa State to open the season.
 
1932: Nebraska's upcoming opener against Iowa State is seen as a pivotal game in the Big Six race.
 
«1937: In Biff Jones' first game as Husker head coach, Nebraska stuns the college football world with a 14-9 upset of defending national champion Minnesota.
 
1942: Nebraska gets three touchdowns via the air and picks off six Iowa State passes in a 26-0 win.
 
1947: Nebraska goes without a first down in the first half but makes a game of it in the third quarter before falling to Minnesota, 28-13.
 
1952: Fullback George Cifra and quarterback John Bordogna pace a 351-yard rushing outing for the Huskers in a 16-0 win over Iowa State.
 
1957: Nebraska gets its only win of the season, 14-7 at Kansas State.
 
1962: The Huskers jump to a 28-0 lead in the first 1½ quarters in a 36-22 win over Iowa State.
 
1967: Joe Orduna's 25-yard touchdown run gives Nebraska a 7-0 win over Minnesota as the Huskers hold the Gophers to 3 yards rushing.
 
1972: Johnny Rodgers has 290 all-purpose yards in a 49-0 pasting of Minnesota
 
1977: I.M. Hipp breaks NU’s single-game rushing record with 254 yards in a 31-13 win over Indiana.
 
1982: One week after a heartbreaking loss at Penn State, the Huskers beat Auburn on the road.
 
1987: NU rallies with 17 points in the final 10 minutes to turn back South Carolina's upset bid in Lincoln.
 
1997: After a week off following a big win at Washington, the Huskers blast No. 17 Kansas State, 56-26.
 
2002: Jammal Lord breaks NU's quarterback rushing record with 218 yards in a win over McNeese State.
 
2007: In the start of what would be a five-game losing streak and Nebraska's first winless October since 1948, the Huskers fall to Missouri in a 41-6 rout. Also, fissures in the Athletic Department become harder to ignore with the resignation of Paul Meyers* as associate AD.
