4 Huskers run for 100 yards in sloppy victory

Four Cornhuskers topped 100 yards rushing, tying an NCAA record, as No. 4 Nebraska overcome five turnovers in sloppy conditions for a 48-7 road victory over Baylor.

Thunder Collins rushed for 165 yards, Dahrran Diedrick for 137, Eric Crouch for 132 and Judd Davies for 119 as Nebraska (7-0, 3-0 Big 12) rolled up 641 yards on the ground.

The Cornhuskers had seven fumbles, including a dropped ball in the end zone by Crouch that Baylor recovered for its only touchdown.

Because of the turnovers, Nebraska led just 14-7 in the third quarter before Crouch’s second touchdown helped ensure the Cornhuskers’ 40th consecutive winning season, second to Notre Dame’s NCAA-record 42-year run.

The Cornhuskers broke the game open with four fourth-quarter scores.

Rain fell during much of the first half and play was suspended for 36 minutes in the second quarter because of lightning.

Commentary

Colonel Mustard

We dominated a bad team. In my mind it is a good game to be done with.

Shatel

The fans that left early had seen lightning. The ones who stayed saw Thunder.

The game’s weather seemed to mimic the Huskers’ performance — unrelenting but sloppy.

A punishing, steamrolling game ball to The Pipeline. Simply put, they reigned in the rain.
