After a scoreless first quarter, the Huskers got on the board with a 43-yard Jerry Tagge to Johnny Rodgers TD pass in the second quarter. Joe Orduna added a two-yard tally in the third quarter before Rodgers took a 26-yard scoring pass from Tagge later in the same period.

The third TD pass of the day saw Woody Cox pull in a 31-yarder from Van Brownson, making his first appearance of the season. Nebraska's defense was superb, holding Army to 18 yards rushing and 128 yards via the air.
