Official recap
Playing what Coach Bob Devaney termed their "best game of the season", the Nebraska Cornhuskers obliterated the Kansas Jayhawks, 42-6, before a roaring crowd of 54,114.

Nebraska rushed for 419 yards and passed for 91 and a potent total offensive net of 510. And the Black Shirt defensive unit held Kansas to 144 yards on the ground and 60 yards through the air, with reserves getting in plenty of action.

It was 21-6 game at halftime, but the Huskers powered to three TDs in the third quarter to blow the lid off the contest and chalk up their 8th straight win.

Ron Kirkland had a great day running, winding up with 147 yards, all in the first half before understudies took over.
