AS MANY Ms AS Ks, Ns OK Ws
Kansas Gare Thirteen Football Let
ters, Washington Only Eleven.
Although fewer football Ms were
awarded this year than usual, the
number compares favorably with the
number of letters given by other Missouri Valley schools. Thirteen players were considered worthy of the
emblem this year in comparison with
fifteen last year and eighteen each of
the two preceding jcars.
Here is the number of letters
awarded by other schools in the Missouri Valley: Washington, eleven;
Kansas, thirteen, Nebraska, twelve;
Ames, fourteen; Drake, fifteen. The
number given by Missouri was equal
to the number given by most of the
other schools and more than some.
As to the manner of giving the Varsity letters, Missouri gives them for
less actual work than do most of the
other Missouri Valley schools. A year
ago a committee was appointed to
draw up regulations for the awarding
of Varsi.ty letters in each sport. The
requirement for a football M is that
the man play a full quarter in each
of three Missouri Valley Conference
games, or play a full quarter in
the Kansas game. In several of the
other Valley schools the requirements
call for a full half in each of three
games instead of a quarter
