Pritchard’s three doubles power Huskers to sweep of St. John’s

The 14 runs were a season high for the Huskers, who totaled 33 runs on 42 hits during the three-game series.
The Huskers (8-5, 0-0 Big Ten) held a 14-1 lead through seven innings before the Red Storm scored six combined runs over their final two at-bats, including four runs in the top of the ninth.
Four Huskers produced multi-hit games to lead Nebraska to 14 hits, including three-hit performances from both Michael Pritchard and Christian Cox. Pritchard slugged three doubles, becoming the first Husker to achieve the feat since Cody Asche against Missouri State on Feb. 20, 2011. Pritchard's first double came with one out in the bottom of the third and extended his nation-leading on-base streak to 55 straight games.
The Huskers continue their nine-game home stand Tuesday when the Northern Colorado Bears come to Lincoln for a pair of games.
Game one is set for a 1:35 p.m. start Tuesday, with game two set for 1:35 p.m. Wednesday.
While Nebraska's offense was feasting on the Red Storm's pitching staff, Nebraska starter Chance Sinclair held the SJU offense in check to improve to 3-0 on the year. The 6-4 righty gave the Huskers 6.0 strong innings, allowing just one run on four hits. Sunday marked the first earned run Sinclair has given up in four starts, bumping his ERA to 0.42.
The Huskers took the lead in the bottom of the first and continued to add to it the rest of game, scoring at least one run in each of the first six innings, including eight runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Darby led off with a single in the first and was at third with two outs following a sacrifice bunt from Jake Placzek and a groundout by Pritchard. Pat Kelly was looking to pick up a two-out RBI, but SJU catcher Tyler Sanchez was unable to haul in an offering from Joey Graziano, allowing Darby to easily score on the passed ball.
The Red Storm tried to rally in the top of the sixth when they had the bases loaded with one out, but Sinclair limited the damage to one run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jarred Mederos.
Holding a comfortable 6-1 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, the Huskers blew the game open with eight runs on just four hits, as NU notched 13 at-bats in the inning. NU posted a pair of sacrifice flies from Bryce Only and Pritchard, RBI singles from Kelly and Placzek, while adding four more run on three straight wild pitches by the St. John's pitching staff with the bases loaded and a passed ball.
